Hand-On Classes

Take advantage of all of the wonderful classes being offered during the four-day festival. Learn how to decorate cakes with celebrated cake designer, Sylvia Weinstock, find out how to make Sue Torres’ handmade tortillas, or spice up your kitchen with Chef Lior Lev Sercarz as he teaches you how to use spices to enhance flavors and create custom blends. Wedding expert Marcy Blum will even show you how to pull off one spectacular wedding – from floral arrangements to creating a sweet dessert buffet, you’ll walk away with plenty of tips to help make your big day unique and memorable. New York Yankees Pinstripe Brunch

Rub elbows with some of baseball’s greats at the New York Yankees Pinstripe Brunch. Josh Capon hosts this Delta Airlines-sponsored brunch at New York Yankees Steakhouse, one of the city’s premier steakhouses. Nosh on dishes from there as well as other local all-star restaurants while listening to an exclusive guitar performance from five-time MLB All-Star Bernie Williams. Former Yankee players Tino Martinez, Gerald Williams, Jim Leyritz and Bryan Boehringer will also be there, along with some top NYC chefs. Don’t forget to get a piece of memorabilia signed by your favorite player!

One of the best parts about the NYCWFF are the seminars! Stop by Kola House on October 15th to learn about The Art of Alchemy from chemist and food technology scientist Alex Ott – you’ll find out what makes his cocktails stand out from the rest. If you’re in the mood to taste sparkling wines, then make sure to stop by the High Line on October 16. Wine Spectator’s editor Alison Napjus will expand your wine knowledge by leading a sparkling wine tasting that is sure to delight your palate. See website for more details.
Late Night Parties

It wouldn’t be the NYCWFF without a few late night parties. Get your tickets for “Tacos & Tequilas” with Aaron Sanchez, “Rock & Roll Sushi” with Masaharu Morimoto, and a “Midnight in Paris” dessert tasting with Dominque Ansel. Those looking for a more affordable ticket, (under $100) the Korean Food Foundation is sponsoring a “Koreatown Eats” party with hosts Deuki Hong and Matt Rodbard. Guests can also nosh on “haute” dogs and Champagne with chef and television star Robert Levine. He’ll be hosting a late-night soiree featuring “haute” twists on the all-American hot dog. Wash it all down with champagnes from the Southern Glazer’s wine & spirits of New York portfolio. Cheers!
$100 & Under Events

If you want to be a part of the action but don’t want to break the bank, there are plenty of events taking place that will cost you less than $100 to attend. Anne Burrell will be hosting a happy hour cocktail party at The Standard’s Biergarten, the folks from Whitehouse Station Sauce Company will lead a homemade hot sauce making class, and Chef Lee Chizmar (James Beard Foundation Semi-Finalist, Best Chefs in America 2015) will teach you how to make a farm-fresh breakfast as well as traditional techniques, like how to perfectly poach or scramble an egg. Cheese lovers can sign up for “Fondue Making with Emmi Roth USA.” Chef and cheese expert Claire Menck will show you how to make traditional and non-traditional cheese fondue flavors.
